Sadly it’s a remake in every way and doesn’t elevate the story outside of fundamentally improving the pacing just by the virtue of it not belong a TV movie. Nothing will ever beat the original’s vampire, played by Reggie Nalder, who delivers one of the greatest depictions of vampires out to film. Everything else about this and the entire IP is skippable

Oddity 2024
Really thought I was going to hate this movie, but it may have been my most surprising movie of the year. It has one of the best jump-scares I’ve seen in a long time. The acting is incredible, with standouts Carolyn Bracken and especially Gwilym Lee nailing every scene they were in. Interesting with some both visceral and fantastical horror concepts, including psychometric abilities that take the narrative into interesting directions. Plus the ending is just *chef’s kiss

Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai 2011
In so many ways, this was an inferior watch to the original 1962 version. Still, Takashi Miike’s style, although greatly toned down especially in terms of gore, is prevalent throughout the film. Th natural lighting was interesting, but it made the movie too dark at times and the attempt to decipher what’s happening takes you out of the flow of the film.
