Comedy is pretty much a dead genre, but luckily a film from over 40 years ago can serve as a reference point for what the genre could be when at its best. If you’re seeing Airplane for the first time, you’ll recognize many quotes as the origin of memes/jokes that endure 40 years later. Truly a timeless classic that was ahead of it’s time, and its wit allows it to age well.
This is the greatest comedy of…
Best of the Oscar nominees I’ve seen so far. The animation style and storytelling technique took a bit for me to get used to, but the real focus is the story—one that is rarely told and often overlooked. I admittedly do not know much about the hardships Afghanis face, as my knowledge extends only to criticizing the U.S. for its involvement. This film does a great job illustrating the collateral consequences of war on one’s family, identity, career/education, and sense of “home.”
