  Very dissapointing. It had almost nothing to do with the case that was advertised, and pretty much just felt like a more disjointed rehash of the Conjuring formula. I was just bored throughout most of it. These may not be the best horror movies ever, but the main entries have at least been good fun with memorable characters, villains, and imagery. Aside from the Warrens being as great as usual, this movie has nothing noteworthy to offer.

  This just feels lazy to me. When a horror franchise like this feels the need to go backwards with a prequel to the original, it's generally safe to assume they're out of ideas. And that's exactly how it felt watching this movie.

  I'm not going to try to say this film doesn't have merit, because it has quite a lot of it, but I just hated every minute of it. If ever there was a movie I'd call pretentious, this is the one.
