I have some thoughts but tbh they’re probably all wrong. It’s the kind of film that feels at times brilliant AND boring. Whole chunks of it probably shouldn’t even be examined without first having knowledge of Chekhov’s play Uncle Vanya… which I do not... but I did read its Wikipedia article midway through the film and began forming crude 1:1 analogies to the film’s characters.
