I was really intrigued by the Beast when I saw it was playing at the coolidge some months ago but I never saw it. Now after seeing it, I'm still intrigued by it but I don't think I really liked it. A movie that's so good and fast and interesting and funny and and and and..... It kinda has everything and 2 and half hours whips by. Stellar!
One of those beginning of the end movies in Adam Sandlers amazing early career. It's not bad and it's definitely funny. But things like this and Zohan were just turning up the rauchy-ness compared to happy Gilmore or Billy Madison. It just feels like that was the wrong direction. The stupidity is welcome but the peak Adam Sandler movies were just a bit more family friendly and I think better for it. Even if that's super prudish to say, nobody really thinks bathroom humor is peak comedy (except my wife) .
