Rewatch. Nothing like reminding yourself how absolutely stupid and evil this country - and finance as an industry - is. Always sobering; always impressive how McKay is able to convey all of this (it’s his best writing even if a bit too long).

Super stylish, great premise, and a banger first 30 minutes. Some existential terror + a vibey & pulpy whodunnit + a Big Chill style reunion all work for me A LOT in theory & I think with some better development of the characters & the narrative in the second half, I would’ve loved this.
The central horror that befalls nearly everyone of losing one’s body is intriguing & nightmarish & like intellectually compelling & forces all of the characters into action. I appreciated the film leaning…

That harrowing, jarring soundscape! I really enjoyed the technical elements of the film and obviously the film is successful in conveying the bleak, grim, atrocity-ridden, senselessness of war. But at times I felt myself drifting (especially during the peace negotiations - did we need to actually see them to get the point? why did we spend so much time on them and not get paul’s visit home - the best part of the book?)
