this movie was so overhyped. five teenage girls are locked in their house, and their parents are shocked when they kill themselves??? the whole story being told through these boys obsessing over the girls was annoying, and the “sad privileged white girls” plot was so boring and shallow.
it’s all style, no substance. people act like there’s some hidden meaning, but there’s honestly nothing there. it’s just a pretty, fake deep mess. 2 stars for the aesthetics that’s it.
I really don’t think we’ll ever get another anime like Nana. every single character feels so real it hurts. they’re written in a way that makes it impossible not to relate to them, get mad at them, or feel for them. the performance from these kids on the streets and amateurs was phenomenal and made this a way better film than what esteemed directors or the “greatest” actors could’ve done.
i’ve never felt sick by the ending of a movie. the man was inlove with erika and until he actually gets to know her and realizes it’s way more than he’s willing to sign up for and he can’t fucking handle it, understandbly so... im so disgusted but ive never watched anything like this before.
