All We Imagine as Light 2024
So proud of Payal Kapadia. From her early shorts to her first nonfiction feature, she has always pushed cinematic boundaries. But her sophomore feature, All We Imagine as Light, is something special. Poetic, heartfelt, and most accessible—the kind of film where the characters and their imperfect journey feel real, as if they were a reflection of our own lives. Payal makes you feel connected to the story, leaving you in a state of introspection as she captures the quiet, powerful truths of the Indian women’s journey.

Kaili Blues 2015
I rewatched Kaili Blues today, four years after my first viewing, and it felt like a completely new experience. The film is still as ambitious and ambiguous as ever, but Bi Gan’s journey through the rural landscape in search of his nephew now feels much richer and more nuanced.
I appreciate how the film captures the essence of memory and longing through its subtle, yet profound, connections between the characters and their surroundings.

One Cut of the Dead 2017
