tried to be a lot more intelligent than it actually was. riddled with logical flaws and plot holes, you’ll likely only enjoy this movie if you can stand two hours of being lectured by an insufferable know-it-all. the saving grace is that hugh grant is awesome as always.

The Substance 2024
a new, horror/sci-fi take on the cliche aging star and her fear of fading into obscurity. very good social commentary about the media basing womens’ worth off of their appearance alone and the universal fear of being forgotten. the longer the movie goes on, the more ridiculous it it gets— by the end, it almost feels like a parody of itself (though i like this aspect!).
though the premise itself is entirely unrealistic, I still feel the need to knock…
