The intensity of the sound design demands attention. Sharpen your senses and lísten, wátch, féél.
These people have wealth and within that wealth, this is what they want. It's ordinary, horrifying and true at the same time.
The film doesn't remind us, it wants to tell us straight to our faces that consumption exists out of choices. Do you want to be full, saturated, fed, warm, rested? At what expense would you still want that?
Cognitive dissonance makes your body want to throw up, but to no avail, it's empty inside.
To be conscious of what that means is in every fiber of this film.

Instant holiday classic. A small moment in the beginning of the film when one of the boys loses a glove, noticing that you feel what's missing more because of the one left behind sets the tone of the film. The story dares to look at Christmas time in all of its facets, the warmth and longing for togetherness but also the heightened sense of grief and loss. Life is easier to digest with a little bit of mercy towards yourself and each other. Not to mention a dose of dry humor. Perfect imperfect mix in a crisp and at the same time warm slice of life.

Almost forgot about this little gem. Loved this film, with Michael Fassbender in a giant mask for most of the film. By the end you want to protect the band at all cost because you understand why it's special and why creativity should be respected, not exploited. It's about the integrity of art and how fame is a system that services the wrong crowd if we don't watch it. Are you a fan of the music, or you just want to see a handsome face?

Finally saw this doc, after having seen the series of Pose twice. Obviously a beautiful and well made documentary about the ballroom culture. Because it is filmed from within, it is exhilarating to experience the freedom people created for themselves. And challenges the white/straight-centric thinking up to the point where even stealing (mopping) seems completely just and logic. Charged by their dreams and (if they're lucky) life experience and natural change of society and culture, life seems as hopeful for…
