You have to be ready, in watching this one, to suspend disbelief and accept the world of the movie for what it is. On the one hand, you have a story about a young girl growing up, experiencing her first love, realizing her neurodiversity and coming to terms with loving herself. On the other hand, you have the zanier stories of the weird, often nutty and larger-than-life adults around her. It’s a story where these worlds coexist as one. If…
This is a tricky one. It's beautifully made and shot, but painfully slow and in some ways difficult to concentrate on. Still, it has emotional pull and the figure skating scenes are lovely to watch.
This is a really sweet, quirky, odd coming of age film. The humor is different — it grows on you and then you’re right there with it. You cheer on the leading lady through her highs and lows and you are so happy for how it ends. Lizzie Kehoe and Thomas Vieljeux have lovely chemistry as the leads, Bartek Szymanski and Casey Landman are true standouts in the supporting roles, and there is truly no weak link in the ensemble. There aren’t many movies like this. Well worth watching.
