The Wennerstrom case felt disconnected from the rest of the movie it just felt like it was there to set up that Mikael was disgraced and to end the movie with Lisbeth having money I guess? I get that there was some connection with the case and Wennerstrom but it was an after thought if anything. If that whole thing was dropped and there was more of a focus on the actual detective stuff (albeit that was pretty good) it would have been a better movie. Even still, its pretty good, just not incredibly good
