Wicked 2024
Got to watch this on Broadway this time last year so it was a full circle moment. Cynthia and Ariana’s chemistry worked so well together, the song renditions are great, set pieces are grand and the costumes are so detailed. The story beats in between are okay- it’s not Dune so I’m going in knowing it’s a light-hearted tone. Good fun family movie.
Definitely laughed and enjoyed this film more than I thought I would- Ariana Grande is hilarious in this.

Too plotty and rushed for me. Also it leaned so heavily on the first. I felt it never stood on its own. Loved Denzel’s performance as always.

This film germinates in your mind long afterwards. Solid characters that feel very organic in every scene. The dialogue, the adventure, the stakes, the heart, and humor all work so well. I think this is Sean Baker’s best film to date. Definitely deserves a second watch.

I fairly enjoyed this film. I don't know about it being as good as Saving Private Ryan as many of my colleagues have called it. The one-take style definitely drew me in and kept me engaged throughout. The third-act was exhilarating and really kept me on the edge of my seat. Great film of the year and much well deserved of the accolades it’s gained so far.
