I didn’t know much about this movie before watching it, but the little I did know gave me certain expectations about the plot. To my surprise (or not so much—thanks, Bong), it had a strong political angle.

I watched this movie thinking it was a different one—I’m not sure which one I confused it with, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Definitely a peculiar film; it completely drew me in, but I felt like it needed another hour. The ending felt really weak to me after all.

Ironically, a funny movie (at least for me). That son of a bitch Willem Dafoe did it again—he never disappoints with his characters. I went to see it in theaters already expecting to like it, and I did, so I guess my rating isn’t exactly unbiased. Another hit from Robert Eggers.
