Office Space 1999
Really hits close to home when you're working an office job. It borders on the absurd, but had a pretty clean and sensible plot in the end. I would've loved it if it really leaned into the absurdity.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa 2008
Comedic meta commentary on social and political issues ranging from classicism, authoritarian rule, and communism, to union busting. Very well done.

Sound of Metal 2019
For someone who tries to listen to music or podcasts every spare minute, this forced a pretty thorough reflection on my relationship with sound and hearing. It really reinforced the idea that there's value in silence. It isn't something to be avoided.
On top of that, I think the writing and cast do a very good job of representing the d/Deafness in a genuine way. I've struggled in the past to understand why members of the Deaf community would reject hearing aids like Cochlear implants, but this movie does a fantastic job of conveying how and why d/Deafness isn't a disability, or something that requires "fixing.
