  The 2002 version of The Count of Monte Cristo has remained one of my all-time favorite films, and Edmond Dantès is among my favorite fictional characters. My appreciation for the movie began in high school when it was part of our English class as film review assignment. I still vividly remember gifting a VCD copy to the cousin of one of my college best friends. This explains why I continue to prefer this version over its recent remake.

  Andrea Riseborough delivers one of the best acting performances of 2022. She commanded every scene she was on! I am upset that her name was not even nominated in Golden Globes, Critics Choice and SAG. An Oscar nom would be a great surprise!

  I now believe when Kate Winslet said that Riseborough’s performance is the “greatest female performance on-screen I have ever seen in my life.” Jesus.
