Damn. I was really sleeping on this one. Opens with an incredible oner that goes on for like 12 minutes and it’s just off from there. First person pov’s, split screens, split diopters, crane shots. The Electric State 2025
A 300 million dollar film that will be forgotten by the time I wake up. So much garbage like this makes me wonder what da movies are gonna look like in the future. Are these going to be so inconsequential that everyone just forgets them or are we in for a future where 10-15 years from now directors are naming guys like the Russo Brothers, Andy Muschietti, Shawn Levy, etc…and their movies as a major influence on their work?

Villeneuve’s worst by a country mile. Uses a real war as its backdrop and has nothing to say about it, super duper serious but has a bullshit gonzo twist, Radiohead needle drops moments after a child is shot shot in the back of the head and a bus full of people are slaughtered, it’s a series of one terrible choice after another. After 2 hours of rape, massacres, and dead children they tack on a message about love and forgiveness. Give me a fucking break.
