The art work of My Neighbors the Yamadas is very intriguing but the movie flows more like a multi episode tv show special. It also seems to lack the magic that you experience from most other studio ghibli movies.
The movie is basically a crazy family who keeps facing new dilemmas and continues to face them in a humorous manor. But the dilemmas seem to share no connection and the characters never feel deep enough to really relate to.
Was not expecting to watch a studio Ghibli movie and sing “country road” for the next two hours.
Whisper of the Heart, finds a way to connect a magical world to what feels like a real life story. I only wish that we could experience the magical world more.

They just keep getting better. Middle felt a bit long but ending was perfect. Sonic adventure 2 callbacks were also amazing.
