got to see this movie at the vienna queertactics festival opening night in 2023 and loved it a whole whole lot. queendom is about the harsh and dangerous reality of what it means to be queer, political and outspoken in russia, equally as much as it is about the beauty of fearless self-realisation as an art practice. gena marvin’s performances embedded in the lunar landscapes of rural magadan will take your breath away.
