  They should’ve let Ginger Minj play Willowdean and forced us to suspend our disbelief that a 40 year old drag queen is Jennifer Aniston’s plucky yet downtrodden teenage daughter. It’s what Dolly would want. This is one of those movies where you’re like yeah…this might as well exist 🤷‍♀️

  This is less a series of plot points and moreso a sensory sketch of rage, fear, violence, apathy, desperation, and seduction building to a point of genuine catharsis for Ani, marked by silence. That’s what I think makes it successful. There’s so much music and noise and yelling for the whole film that the silence at the end is like a detonation. By then there’s this intuitive understanding of Ani we have, much in the same way Igor does. Truth comes out in the quiet. Litmus test for human sensitivity.
