  This movie is soooooo bad- I LOVE IT!

  But yes, it’s a little reminiscent of an angsty marvel movie at times (all of the time), and has a little too many moments of cringey graphics and really jarring script writing that doesn’t always flow- but I’m kind of a sucker for everything else this movie has going on. The soundtrack panders to a much younger gothic audience, with lots of clearly well loved set and wardrobe design. Lots of scenes/sequences…

  Points for costume design, and just points for Cher. 

  The only thing I couldn’t allow myself to believe was that anyone just wakes up with that beautiful blowout- don’t lie to me like that burlesque.

  The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert 1994

  This has got to be the golden standard of costume design. 

  This story of three queens on a journey through the wide open Australian desert has such an important commentary to make not only in its own iconic queer righteousness, but in its dialogue on a nations relationship with homophobia and the queer community. There is still such a brutally sharp, witty and down right hilarious commentary that is so overtly Australian at all times throughout this movie, but when you peel back the comedic buffer, PQOFTD is a representation of a very early queer scene to Australia that is equal parts charming and transformative.

  I was 12 years old when I clued on to the nature of my fathers reality, a loyal and proud skinhead, when his ‘friends’ (if that’s what you even want to call such a dynamic that feeds of hate) gloated of a queer man they had left for dead earlier that previous day somewhere along the coast of Australia.
