Immediately one of the best movies I've ever seen. It was the most existentially terrifying thing I've ever experienced and I hope I never stop thinking about it. It inverts lynch's eye for symbolism and finds a void that comes off the screen the same way that being alive in the age of monsters feels. In a world that still had a monoculture or a sense of a shared reality this is the kind of movie you'd look back on in 20 years and recognize it shifted the whole medium into a new era.

    Please watch this thing.

Often times calling a movie writerly or novelistic is an insult due to a lack of visual creativity in contrast to a script, but that's not what I mean when referring to this movie. There is simply so much depth here, so much more to unpack than can be accomplished in a single sitting that I hope I'll be revisiting and parceling this out for a while yet.
