The movie’s plot is so sexually charged, it’s bursting at the seams, straining against the Hays Code restrictions. You have it all—girl-on-girl action, role play, workplace sexual harassment, a gay man guarding women’s virtues at the dorm—and innuendos are everywhere, yet always tasteful. Like in the scene where the Murphy bed named Walter collapses from an air draft, practically inviting the newlyweds to consummate their marriage:
"Oh, Walter! Oh, here he goes again."
"Who’s Walter?"
"Oh, the maid calls it…
I was excited about this movie, hoping it would explore an overlooked topic in cinema, especially this part of Armenian history. However, my enthusiasm faded as the film progressed. Despite the interesting subject, the execution was disappointing. The production is lavish but the acting was just bad from the start, and the dialogue is almost non-existent. That would have been fine if the story were compelling but it is dull. The movie couldn't capture the authenticity of the historical period…
