While lacking in pure cinematic cinematography or razorsharp editing, Incendies is an incredibly powerful film, giving us an early glimpse of the directive powers of Villeneuve, who orchestrates one of the more impactful war stories I have ever seen. The acting is thus superb and the story is emotionally woven through the eyes of the kids whom journey through their moms past, which is presented in a clever way through flashbacks and plot twists.
While the story may not be the most original, Tom Hanks acts this superbly. The robot Jeff is one of the best implementations when it comes to CGI & Robot characters creating feelings of empathy; we see him growing up from a toddler to a teenager ready to be independent through many interactions with Hank's character Finch. I invited my friend and dear collegue Mehmet over for a film watching session. He introduced me to Akira Kurosawa's films already with his classic film Seven Samurai.
