There is nothing original in this movie, no unexpected twists or deviations from the Rom-com script. Rich man falls for poor woman, small c conservative for big L liberal, man becomes a better man, and woman … ? There is no real depth to the characters, and the weight of characterisation is on the shoulders of the star personalities but … I love it. It’s like pulling on slipper socks, or eating shepherd’s pie, at the end, even on the worst of days, I cant help feel a little warmer, and there’s always a smile on my face.
