I respect this movie, but that doesn't mean I like it. an enthralling premise, with so much style, spectacle, and subject matter to work with, with zero reason to care. plot, story, and emotional beats all ring hollow as flimsy caricatures, and come off colder than the setting of the film itself. it's like being able to only witness the structural skeleton of a grand Italian cathedral.
