  If I hadn't been told it was a Mussolini biopic but instead a biopic on his secret lover, I think I would've appreciated it more. The first 20 minutes of this film teases us with Filippo Timi as a younger version of the Benito we're used to seeing, showing us a character we want to know more about. The film then goes full melodrama and we literally never see him again.
