  Gorgeous, adorable, but viscerally frightening and tragic. Helplessness consumes the film, reinforced by the limitations of its "real" animal characters. They can convey emotion, but cannot speak. We can adapt to a changing world, but we cannot comprehend it.

  The video game-y art style exasperates the feeling. The world looks explorable, interactive. But I cannot intervene. Take your 9/10 & go cause I kinda never wanna watch this again

  By the second hour of this behemoth of a film, at the conclusive-feeling falling action of the Trinity test, I reach the point when my body was in tune to expect a normal-length movie to end. I glanced at my phone for the only time and caught that another hour remained. Luckily, it's the third act that so expertly weaves so many of this movie's rich themes together in an exciting and memorable way.
