Saudi Uncut Gems with Drive's bi-sexual lighting
We could be in Phoenix or Vegas watching Fahad always in transit, his car traversing big ol freeways guided by a delivery app. The infrastructural bones of modern Riyadh and its car dependency are familiar to me. America's motorized citizen was the template for Saudi's 20th century development.
What's less familiar is watching Fahad bootlegging stolen moonshine or the gender norms and how they're ever present but shift subtly as we move up the Saudi class system.
A cool glimpse into a world I don't know colliding with one I do.

Fuuuck I want a little cat to protect from the elements🥺 this had me at the first cat/capybara interaction and felt Scavengers Reign adjacent with the journey through continually shifting biomes, while the sinuous, and at times almost rotoscope-y animation style gave Flow more texture than the overglossed Pixars I'm accustomed to. The character physics/lack of voice-over helped ground me in the world.
