In my opinion, Emilia Perez is one of the most underrated movies from the Cannes Festival. I’m sharing my experience as a person who can’t stand musicals (just for case). I got the impression that Jacques Audiard tried to address literally all of Mexico’s problems. The Mafia that kills people, the government’s loyalty to corruption, the fear of changing one’s gender, and the struggle to be honest with your partner. But somehow, all of these elements work so well together…
