it was fine. not horrible but didn’t find it very compelling, either as a romance or horror movie and certainly not as both. good score and cinematography i guess. felt little chemistry between the leads, their relationship believable solely as a plot device due to the loneliness in their shared identity. which i guess was the point but like…. yeah duh. overall fairly trite.

this is my favorite film. i say film not movie because this is peak art house cinema, largely because you think it is not. half technicolor acid trip, half thinly veiled critique of american capitalism, this film has it all: the director’s wife, multiple britney spears covers, and an opening spring break montage set to skrillex. every time i rewatch, i get worried that it won’t be my favorite movie anymore, but she always pulls through! vanessa hudgens should’ve been nominated.
