As a general rule of thumb, I do not like adaptions of Hamlet where he's exceptionally angry and violent. So Howle's Hamlet threatening Horatio with his knife fifteenth minutes into the play should have been the sign I needed that this adaption wasn't for me.
(It also highlighted how Gertrude and Horatio only had reason to like Hamlet because they do in the original text. The relationship dynamics suffered as a result.)
