  The beautiful set pieces really feel like they're struggling to lift up a pretty weak mystery story, the worst dialogue I've heard in a movie from Burton, and some acting that varies so wildly from actor to actor that it can be nauseating. The Horseman is a sick antagonist throughout, and some of the action sequences and special effects are pretty creative and captivating, though. Depp is pretty great, but he can only work with what he's given, as can everyone else in the movie.
