The animation tries to emphasize on a very crucial aspact of human relationship which is accepting each other as we are, and showing empathy.
Flint's dad learned to accept his son's strange character, Sam learned how to kiss Flint in his strange way of kissing, and Flint himself learned how to use and love his own creatures in order to help people around him.
