Fell into some of the usual musician biopic traps but I enjoyed that it actually spent time on the music and that, by focusing on this relatively small stretch of time, it didn't portray Dylan purely as an isolated genius but focused on his influences and relationships to other artists.

I remember that Bong Joon Ho gave multiple interviews saying how surprised he was at how much Parasite resonated with American audiences since he thought the film was uniquely rooted in Korean society. Mickey 17 feels a bit like is attempt to create something just as uniquely rooted in American society, and not only because of Mark Ruffalo's Trump-Musk-hybrid villain (who is a joy to watch throughout the whole thing).

This film has the same kind of creativity as "Everything Everywhere All At Once", delightfully meta and imaginative in its breaking of cinema conventions, not afraid to be funny or sincere. A wonderful story about a side character who wants to become a main character in a world where those who do not play their part are edited out of the movie.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Two observations:
1. This episode would have benefited from picking an ending. Instead it gave us... 4? After a while the constant "waking up" took all punch from the original ending, even though the episode did have some great moments.
2. Sonja, the girl the protagonist hooked up with, and the main character are pretty much the two kinds of black mirror: one is British, intelligent and empathetic, the other is American, loud and sometimes obnoxiously on the nose.Translated from by
