A film that grows on me more each time I see it. There’s obviously the 80s cheese, and the execution isn’t always the best here, but it’s just such an interesting watch. I love the atmosphere throughout; everything feels so off. Visually, I love the framing here with all these wide open, unnatural looking spaces, occupied by shadowy characters and machines. It’s strange seeing a film with so much potential seemingly choose to be boring. This script almost feels like a draft copy, there’s just so little depth to anything that’s happening. The plot and characters are very thin here, and the film doesn’t seem to give us any real development. Utterly captivating and almost indescribably beautiful from start to finish.
