Hollywood falls in love with itself. Again.
Despite having a multitude of characters from different ethnicities, social and economic classes, professions, all of the characters sound like they were puppets voiced by one old man nolstagic for the good ol' times. Each character was a one dimensional caricature of a stereotype.
Despite such a wide cast of big names, the film delivered no message or story worth its budget. The filmmaker blows the trumpet of love, freedom, democracy, and equality, plus a dose of military worship, in an echoy chamber where everyone nods in unison. The audience leaves with nothing more than they came in with.
A speedrun of what feels like a B-list video game.
Characters change their minds from "hell no" to "when do we start" in 30 seconds. Cheesy, unconvincing tragic family back story. Far too many generic, yawn inspiring fight scenes. It's hard to name a thing in this film that actually feels spectacular.
Script wise, there were so many cheesy one-liners that seem targeted to an American Midwest audience (perhaps even they cringe). It feels like Tom Holland himself was perhaps cringing when delivering some lines he received that it came out sounding sarcastic.
