“How do we know this isn’t some kind of holographic motion capture Hollywood wizardry?!”
- John Goodman in Bee Movie
Great performances, cool setting and premise, beautiful photography; but I’m left feeling pretty empty about this viewing. Solid but not spectacular

I don’t think I’m in the right space to appreciate this

Well that was just delightful

The first half kind of felt like a really good Hallmark movie. I don’t say that disparagingly, but for one of the highest rated films on letterboxd I was expecting more. The second half works much better and the ending is terrific, but I found there to be so many distractions (strange dubbing, poor performances from 2/3 of the Totos, a genuinely awful score) that I couldn’t see what the hype is all about.
Perhaps I am just wary of “movies about movies.”
