I wanted to like this but I just didn’t. It’s okay and serviceable at best…

The film is set in a dystopian future that doesn’t quite feel as fleshed out as it should. I didn’t quite believe in the world building that was given to us and because of that I really struggled to get into it. The concept and story itself is mostly solid with iffy writing, a great performance by Sadie Sink and some really catchy songs.

Unfortunately… Sadie Sink and the decent songs weren’t enough to make me enjoy this film.

‘Heretic’ is a super interesting film for me because I was floored for the majority of the film. I had a feeling that I would like it but I didn’t anticipate being as captivated by it as I was.

What I enjoyed most about the film was the dialogue. It was intelligent, playful at times and felt like a constant tennis match with the back and forth battle of wits.

Hugh Grant plays against type here and, even though it may…

When I was a little kid I road the ‘Twister’ ride at Universal even though I had never seen the movie but the ride TERRIFIED me so I never actually watched. Am I still traumatized by that ride? Maybe.

I’ve never heard anybody say this but I believe it’s true. Twister could be considered a horror movie if it’s looked at with the same lenses we wear looking at Jaws and calling it a horror movie.

I can’t believe I waited 28 years to watch this film but damn it, it’s perfect.

    Cinematography? Exquisite.
    Performances? Excellent.
Script? Incredible idea built upon a faulty foundation.

This was good when it could’ve been great.
