X is a thoroughly enjoyable modern throwback to the grindhouse horror scene of the 70s.

I gravitated toward this film specifically as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is one of my all-time favourite horror films, and this movie really scratched the itch I had for another brutal, gritty horror film.

The tone of the film was set really well for a movie set in the 70s with the soundtrack and camerawork absorbing the audience into the world of the film…

    Mandy is an absolute trip.

To state the obvious, the most notable aspects of this movie have to do with its audiovisual presentation. The lighting and cinematography are insanely cool throughout this entire movie and the soundtrack is absolutely incredible. The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre

God, this movie just…. Straight up sucks.

There’s pretty much nothing redeemable about it to me, most of the acting is abysmal, the writing is embarrassing, and the storyline is… just strange and nonsensical, the weird government conspiracy thing (I don’t even know) storyline is just so contrived and doesn’t make any sense.

The main characters are uninteresting and act more like they’re being mildly inconvenienced rather than absolutely terrified. The tone of the movie is completely messy, they completely…
