I love movies that make me feel creeped out and uncomfortable and this one did just that. Travis Bickle strikes me as a deeply disturbed red pill type dude. (But what can you expect from a Vietnam war vet? War fucks people up.) - I mean, who takes a beautiful girl for a porn movie on the first date??? Or any date for that matter 😭. His mental health continues to deteriorate throughout the film, especially after getting rejected. The ambiguous ending feels very apt for a character like his. Also it's visually striking in a very powerful way.
