Is it weird to say this had one of Nicholas Hoult's "least lame" characters? He's still sad and pathetic (which he does great) but this is also the most heroic I've seen him.
I'm going to say the fact this wasn't as freaky or disturbing as I expected says more about me than the film itself because this was just fantastic. It's everything I could want from a vampire film.
Around two-thirds in I realised this was pretty much a beat-for-beat retelling of Kung Fu Panda 2. Not sure if that made me like it more or less.
Honestly a deccent action film and a very competant writer/directorial debut from Dev Pattel. It's clearly trying to do something important alongside the action stuff, and I can respect it even if the film dossn't come together perfectly.
I've seen Vampires be scary, I've seen them be cool, seen them be tragic and seen them be... Twilight-y.
But I've never seen them be as funny as they are in this film.
