finally finished this after starting it.... like a full year ago? i think the fact that i remembered what was going on speaks to its impact on me; it would be easy to lose track of who is on whose side and what characters are doing what after taking like a 9 month break but the performances are so clear and the characters are well-drawn enough that it was easy. i think that having rdj play all of the main white guys was genuinely brilliant. really loved it.

i liked it well enough! i liked how the animals were not anthropomorphized much, but it did make it weird that they knew how to steer a boat. i also felt like it was missing a bit of depth? i'm not saying that we needed to get answers to questions like "where are all the people" or anything, but it did feel a bit like there was a series of things happening without the audience understanding the thematic or mechanical connection between them. i like the big statues and the abandoned field of broken boats.

watched all 4 rebuild movies back to back in one day. not really sure what possessed me to do this. the beginning section and end section of this last movie are really strong imo but the ship/mech battle section in the middle just really does not work for me.
