watched this twice in the theater but enjoyed it more the first time around. like any other woman with the slightest comprehension of female oppression, I cried over America’s monologue. I walked out of there feeling in awe that this movie made it to the actual mainstream for men to watch in discomfort.
if you have a fragile male ego, you’d probably hate this movie even if it was nowhere near radical manhater levels. I personally believe it would have been a better film if that scene of Barbie apologizing to Ken wasn’t there 🤷🏻♀️
lesbian representation in the mainstream except it’s not actual lesbian representation… it had its comedic moments but it was too all over the place for me

one of the most memorable lines in the film for me. I loved the production but I agree that it could have been grittier to better reflect the moral repugnance of that time. more than anything, it blew me away to know that GomBurZa were, in fact, not martyrs united in a cause. they were truly just collaterals, so unjustly disposed of by Spain to illustrate a point.

pilit ang script, lalo na sa mga unang bahagi ng pelikula. hindi masiyadong natural yung filipino, parang isinulat yung script sa ingles tapos isinalin lang nang basta-basta sa filipino 😭 pero napakaganda ng sorsogon, nakahihikayat bumisita. ito na rin isa sa mga pinakamahusay na nakita kong VFX sa mga pelikula natin. maganda rin yung chemistry ng cast. nanalo kasi ‘to ng best screenplay sa MMFF kaya mataas naging expectations namin.
