not what i was expecting at all, but while watching the film, the ending did feel predictable. i will admit, it made me jump 3 feet out of my chair within the first five minutes.

i have never sobbed so much over a movie.
watched this in lockdown after hearing it recommended sooo many times, and it instantly became one of my favourite films ever made. neil’s death at the end of the film was the perfect end, solidifying it as a tragedy and emphasising the impact that the pressure he felt from his father to suppress an “unacceptable” part of himself really had.i immediately bought the book, and i love both of them so much. it’s a film i always revisit.
