sue me, i didn’t like it. there was something missing that was soooo noticeable but hard to put my finger on. it was boring and lacked substance to me; there definitely could have been a deeper dive into ellen as a character instead of her being a glorified sacrificial lamb of sorts. count orlok was terrifying in a disgusting sort of way and all the other characters kind of faded into being pretty ornaments embedded into a cinematographer’s wet dream. amazing costumes and every shot was gorgeous but it was just blehhhhh. still love your work, Mr. Eggers.

If there was any movie I could recommend going into blind, it would be this one. This one had feeling for me. Whether because of my first hand experience with religious trauma or the empathy set up for Lee Harker from the start, I couldn’t help feeling drawn into the hunt for long legs.
