Universal Language 2024
Focking yes. I'd chose this director to frame my life. The humour in this instilled a weird sense of pride in the writers, actors and directors - like when you smile and your heart is filled when you see people you love make magic from the ether.
I doubt the wonder and subtlety of this movie will be replicated. It did so much in ways it wasn't asked to. And the fucking frames, instant stank face, the director and production team were nasty with it. Focking loved this.

The Menu 2022
This gave me schadenfreude as a service worker. I question if I would have appreciated it as much if I had not worked in restaurants/cafes. The cast understood the assignment and the monologues made you want to say them yourself. It relied heavily on violence to make a point (as a lot of American films do) but it speaks to how violence can/is necessary to equalise some of the disparities we face today in society.
