  Social critique of late socialism and a moment to have a good laugh at the absurdity of it all. Soosaar casually mentioned that he recorded Malle Meelak’s phone call with him without her consent but that she was happy with the final result :)

  Had a chat with the director and he mentioned that to get the script approved by Moscow, he had to present it as showing the advent of socialism through the kolkhoz. Although the movie largely portrays the uniqueness of Europe’s last matriarchy. Incredibly filmed and Soosaar’s touch is evident through the saturated colours in multiple scenes.
