Poor Things 2023
Visually, this film is absolutely stunning. The whimsical costumes, the extravagant sets, the cinematography, the eerie soundtrack…The attention to detail put in to the film is truly remarkable. The film is undeniably Lanthimos’s masterpiece. Emma Stone as always brings her A game. However as someone who has read the book I can say that the film falls short in bringing the many challenging and groundbreaking feminist and sociological concepts that make the heart of the book to light. That being said, it’s a fun movie that introduces us to an alternate Victorian world.
