The archetype for all Mob movies, Coppola takes a book series and turns it into a masterpiece of fiction featuring the middle days of the American Mafia scene. Long before the long arm of the law could choke the almost limitless ability of the organized crime world, this film features the named Godfather and his slow descent into frailty as his empire is given to his most unlikely heir, Michael, the youngest son. A great watch and I would always recommend another viewing to anyone who has already enjoyed this film.
A movie that pursues the notion of a love triangle between historic figures John Smith, Pocahontas, and John Rolfe during the settling of the Jamestown colony in the early 1600s. I enjoyed the setting and the detail of a harsh new environment and an even harsher local population throughout the film. I didn't really enjoy the inaccurate weapons and armor of the Virginia settlers or the imagined romance between an Englishman and a young Native girl. Hollywood continues to push…
